The main image dominates the magazine and has not many puffs, although compared to Fabulous magazine, the basis of my Pre Production 1, it is a lot less classy and simplistic. It still looks good and not tacky, but they are two different genres of magazine and I will aim to make my two magazines distinctively different.

My first pre-production cover!
I'm really pleased with my first cover. It looks simple and sophisticated, something you would find in a private dentist's practice! ;)
The puffs don't overshadow the main image too much and instead fill up empty space with appealing snippets of what features in the magazine. The headline has the words 'new' in bold emphasising both the fact the model is new, the year is new and the magazine is new, which ties in with the title 'comtemporary'. The target audience is mainlly female but has some male audiences. All the puffs mainly attract women but some could also attract men and will therefore attract them just as much as women. However the competition to win Westlife tickets is appealing more to women as Westlife's target audience is similar to that of my magazine. Also the cover star, "Reece Smith the model" appeals more to females due to the advertisements he's famous for. The sub headline has words in bold them emphasise the most important words 'ambitions', 'those' and 'on the market' have indivdual affects all of which attract a broad range of people.

Textual Analysis 1
- The masthead has changed colour to suit the colour scheme of browns and oranges. It is the distinctive logo that goes with the magazine and is attached to all it's products. It is covered up by the celebrity, specifically Caroline Flack showing that she is more important than the logo and stands above everything.
- The cover line is "Hot Gossips" which is large and eye catching. The word 'Hot' is orange almost highlighting it and drawing more attention to that one word and using it to describe the stars. As 'gossip' is plural it somewhat personifies it and says that Caroline Flack & Olly Murs' are the gossips instead of there being actual gossip to read about. This is supported by what the stars are holding and wearing suggesting they are reporters after gossip, but also spread the gossip themselves. About other people and maybe about themselves. As this is the largest cover line, it is the main cover line despite it's unusually small size.
- The dateline is very small and and at the bottom with the price. The date is specific to one week as it covers television shows for the one week. It also says 'Free with The Sun' which, although this is an attractive offer, anyone who purchases the newspaper on Saturday automatically gets this magazine free and therefore they know about it being free making this information irrelevant
- The main image is large and stands out and is not covered by too main puffs or cover lines. Caroline Flack is making eye contact with the audience, catching their attention and more of men. Whilst Olly Murs is looking at Caroline Flack discreetly showing the audience that even his attention is on hers, so should there's. Therefore with sex appeal from Flack and encouragement from Murs this makes it a very attractive magazine and makes people want to purchase it.
- Puffs around the main image include the word 'Exclusive' which again relates to the fun and informal interview of Flack & Murs being reporters. It also attracts the audience again because they will be eager to hear something exclusive and will want to be the first one to learn new things so they can spread the word and feel powerful with their new found knowledge. '+Plus+' visually shows there is more to expect in the magazine with the plus sign. It then gives a list in alternating colours to separate the extra things. This magazine would be full of features but only points on the four most important things which attract the most amount of people and the widest audience. Caroline Flack & Olly Murs promoting the X Factor will attract a certain audience, probably females aged 14 - 55, then Graham Norton and his show will attract the older audiences, probably again females. Then Derren Brown, which is in black, will attract more of a male audience probably from the ages of 16 - 55. And lastly Hollyoaks, a popular British sop which attracts younger audiences (probably 15 - 25) will attract both males and females, ensuring the most people view this magazine.
